Two people infected with the Brazilian variant of COVID-19 died in Venezuela, two days after the arrival of this variant in the country was announced, Nicolás Maduro reported this Friday.

“Of the four people infected in Caracas, two died yesterday. Young, they were young, 40 and 50 years old, “said Maduro in a ceremony with the ruling party in which he commemorated the eight years of the death of former President Hugo Chávez (1999-2013).

Maduro said that the authorities are making a “tremendous effort” and “serious” to “isolate” the variant of the three states in which its presence has been detected – Capital District, Miranda (center) and Bolívar (south) – because ” it is very virulent ”.
