Roland-Garros: suspicion of match rigging in the qualifications!

Our colleagues from L’Equipe reveal this Thursday that the match of the first qualifying round of Roland-Garros between the Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles (133rd at the ATP) and Dudi Sela (456th, ex-29th in the world) ended with the score quite dry from 6-3; 6-0 is subject to “checks” by the authorities after abnormally high stakes were recorded by some bookmakers, especially in the second set.

“The alerts on matches in themselves are not proof of rigging” reminded the ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency, the International Agency for the integrity of tennis). “When further analysis reveals fraudulent activity, the ITIA conducts a full and confidential investigation.”
