After multiple hit singles, the afro-infused neo-R’n’B singer has released her long-awaited debut album, “Ronisia.”
Ronisia will be on stage at the Alhambra in Geneva on May 13, 2022. This will be her second concert in Switzerland, after that of December 15, 2021 as the first part of Dadju at the Arena.

In the landscape of urban music in France, Ronisia has been a must for two years. The number of streams of the singles “Doucement”, “Désolée” and “Aterrissage”, as well as his collaborations “Jolie Madame”, “Comme moi” or even “Abana”, is counted in several tens of millions. It is an understatement to say that the first album of the 21-year-old singer of Cape Verdean origin, “Ronisia”, released on January 28, 2022, was expected.
How long did it take you to register your cake?
I started it in January 2021 and finished it in October. I still have the songs in my head. Which hasn’t stopped me from listening to them on repeat over the past few days, to reassure myself, calm me down. I thought that the release of this first disc was going to worry me. In the end, she especially stressed me out.
For its title, you didn’t look very far…
At first, I wanted a name that looked pretty. I have not found anything. Then, afterwards, it was obvious. I kept saying around me that the album resembled me, that people could discover me thanks to it. It therefore had to be called “Ronisia”, quite simply.
How do you work?
I have no rules. It all depends on my inspiration and the person I’m working with. I can write my texts according to a production that speaks to me, but I can also arrive at the studio with a text and a melody and then work on the sound with the beatmaker.
Your main source of inspiration?
I don’t have a specific one, it all depends on my mood. In some songs I talked about myself, in others about my girlfriends or things seen on social networks. The common thread is that, in the themes that I address, everyone can find their way around a little bit, whether you are a girl or a boy.
How many beatmakers have you worked with?
Many! I think I will forget some if I list them. For some, I knew them. We had worked together before and I wanted to cover them because we had a good musical connection. There are others that were offered to me by my record company. She never imposed anything on me. She suggested that I go listen to what they were doing and I was free to accept or refuse.
Of the sixteen tracks on the album, there are only three collaborations, with Ninho, Tiakola and Eva. This is little?
I didn’t want more. It’s my album and I wanted to keep room to express myself.
How was born “Follow me”, recorded with Ninho?
We met on the sidelines of a concert and we talked. Everyone likes what the other does and our producers knew each other. It brought us into the studio. At the beginning, the developing artist that I am was a little afraid to collaborate with this great artist who has been in the business for a long time. Barriers quickly fell. It went really well, it was fast, fluid and we had a lot of fun. Nobody took the lead. We were really in the exchange.
On “Nha Terra”, you don’t sing in French. Why this exception?
It’s Portuguese Creole. I am talking about Cape Verde, my country of origin. I haven’t been there for a long time. I missed the sun and the beach, I wanted to escape to song.
On social networks, you are put in competition with Wejdene. What do you think?
There is no competition. We each have our universe that we could even, why not, share one day. These are the people who need to compare us. It’s up to us to be smart not to get into their game. If we start thinking about clashes, we won’t be able to concentrate on what we know how to do, music. We both do what we like and I think it’s cool that young girls like us are successful.
