Date 8 July 2022 Website “Royal Gazette” Publish the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health Re: Names and Significant Symptoms of Communicable Diseases to Watch Out (No. 2) B.E. 2022 for smallpox or monkey pox

by Announcement of the Government Gazette stated that, where it is expedient to declare smallpox or monkey pox (Monkeypox) is a communicable disease that must be monitored according to the Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558 for the purpose of surveillance, prevention and control of communicable diseases.

By virtue of Section 5 paragraph one and Section 6 (1) of the Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558 (2015), the Minister of Public Health with the advice of the National Communicable Disease Committee. therefore issued an announcement as follows:

Article 1 This announcement is called “Notification of the Ministry of Public Health Re: Names and Significant Symptoms of Communicable Diseases requiring Surveillance (No. 2) B.E. 2022”

Clause 2. This Notification shall come into force as from the day following the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.

Clause 3 Add the following as (56) of Article 4 of the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health Re: Names and Signs of Communicable Diseases to Be Watched for, B.E. 2562 (2019)

“(56) smallpox or monkey pox (Monkeypox) has a fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, a rash or blister on the skin that looks like blisters or pustules. This can occur on the head, trunk, genitals and around the anus, arms or legs. Some blisters may occur on the palms or soles of the feet.”
