The trailer for “Bodice”

Fifteen years after “Marie Antoinette”, dressed by director Sofia Coppola in a Converse and macaroons version, as a queen eaten away by boredom and depression, it is the turn of another myth, that of “Sissi”, which has made Romy Schneider celebrates, to be revisited.

On an idea by Vicky Krieps, the Austrian Marie Kreutzer seized the story of the Empress of Austria, summoned to be silent, to smile, not to interfere in the affairs of the Empire, and who sinks into melancholy in his forties.

With its anachronistic sets, mixing period furniture and electric lamps, and its soundtrack by singer and composer Camille with rock hits taken up on the harp, the film also intends to talk about today. With social networks in particular, “in all the functions that we take, in all professional environments, beauty takes on a role and that is not good at all! If we are beautiful or handsome, we take more place, we listen to you better, we vote for better, and that’s the worst”, regrets the actress revealed in “Phantom Thread”.

For the role, Vicky Krieps had to wear a corset, like Sissi, a woman “on the verge of a nervous breakdown and collapse”. “It was hard, it squeezes the solar plexus, where all the nerves are hooked. It takes away the emotions, I was stuck in my emotions, I couldn’t get out my sadness or my joy”, she testifies .

The film is due out at the end of the year.
