Russian athletes were stripped of 15 medals from the 2012 Summer Olympics in London following a recheck of old doping samples, according to the website of the International Doping Testing Agency (ITA).

A total of 2727 samples were retested during the analysis.

The Russians lost three gold, 11 silver and one bronze awards. Of the 15 medals, one gold and one silver were redistributed.

A total of 73 anti-doping rule violations were identified as a result of re-analysis of samples, of which 21 were by Russian athletes, 11 by Belarusians. The largest number of violations was found in weightlifting (36), followed by athletics (28), followed by wrestling (3).

The Russian team took fourth place in the medal standings of the Games in London (18 gold, 21 silver, 27 bronze medals).
