According to a video broadcast on May 5, 2021, the former hostage was held by the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM) affiliated with Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).
For the moment, no information has filtered on the conditions of this release which comes the day after that of two workers of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
