The indexation, on January 1, 2022, of the salaries of employees of at CP 200, the largest joint committee in the country, could reach 3.56%, according to the latest calculations by SD Worx. Such indexing would be unheard of for a good ten years. Inflation has been accelerating for several months. After 4.16% in October, it reached 5.64% in November, its highest level since July 2008 (5.90%).
For the CP 200, the auxiliary joint committee for employees (ex-CP 218), which concerns more than 450,000 employees and more than 50,000 employers from very diverse sectors in Belgium, the indexation of wages is done once a year, on January 1, on the basis of the inflation of the previous year.
We have to go back to 2012 to find a higher indexation
The level of indexation that will be applied on January 1, 2022 will only be known definitively once the inflation figures for the month of December have been established, but we already have a good idea of its magnitude, and, according to the latest simulation of SD Worx, the salary increase in the CP 200 would reach 3.56% on January 1, 2022. We have to go back to 2012 to find an indexation higher than 3% (+ 3.17%) and 2009 to find a further increase stronger (+ 4.51%). In 2021 and 2020, the wage indexation in the CP 200 had been less than the percent.
