Sales of new cars in Russia fell by 61.6% in November :: Autonews

In Russia, 46,403 new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in November 2022, according to the Association of European Businesses (AEB). This figure is 61.6% less than in the same month last year.

At the same time, compared with October of this year, car sales increased. In the second month of autumn, 45,228 cars were sold in the country. As for the first eleven months of 2022, sales fell by 60.9% to 548,877 vehicles.

In October, almost all companies included in the AEB list of the most popular brands showed a drop in sales. The main reason for such indicators remains the same – the lack of cars from dealers. The exceptions were Geely (+24%), UAZ (+14%), FAW (+23%) and DFM (+123%).

Domestic AvtoVAZ remains the leader, having sold 21,726 new cars, which is 18% less than a year earlier. In second place is the Chinese Haval with 4,552 cars sold (-7%). The first three are closed by the commercial division of GAZ – the company’s sales fell by 22%, to 4,224 units.

The fourth position is occupied by the Chinese Geely. For a month, this company was able to sell 3,506 cars on our market. This figure is 24% more than in November 2021. Rounding out the top five is domestic UAZ, which last month was able to sell 3,494 vehicles (+14%).

As for individual models, in November the first place among the bestsellers was traditionally taken by Lada Granta. During the month, the Russians bought 13,015 of these cars. For example, a year ago, 7,231 such cars were sold on our market. In second place is Lada Niva, which sold 6,898 copies against 3,618 SUVs a year earlier. The first three are closed by Haval Jolion cars (2,021 units).

In fourth place is the most affordable crossover of the Chinese brand Geely called Coolray. During the month, the Russians bought 1,678 of these cars. Chinese crossovers Haval F7 are on the fifth line. In November, 1,298 such machines were sold on the Russian market.
