BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the 3-match ODI series against West Indies at home from July 22 to 27. Senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant have been rested for the series. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been rested by India for the ODI series against West Indies.
Opener Shikhar Dhawa can lead India. Ravindra Jadeja is the vice-captain. After the Twenty20 – ODI series against England, India will play the ODI series against West Indies. After this, India is playing a 5-match Twenty20 series against West Indies. BCCI has not announced the squad for the Twenty20 series.
Malayali player Sanju Samson also returned to the Indian ODI team for a while. Sanju was included in the 16-member team as the number 2 wicket-keeper behind Ishan Kishan. But Dinesh Karthik is not part of the team. Apart from Sanju Samson, opener Shubman Gill, pacers Josh Khan and Arsh Deep Singh have also made it to the ODI squad. Sanju has played only one ODI for India in 2021. Despite scoring 46 runs in the match, Sanju has not been included in the ODI team since then.
