Walldorf, Germany (ots/PRNewswire) – Joule is an AI assistant that is directly integrated into solutions for companies’ mission-critical processes and understands the business context
SAP today announced Joule – a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered assistant using natural language that will transform the way companies do business. Joule will be integrated across the entire SAP cloud portfolio, providing proactive and contextual insights from SAP’s extensive solutions and third-party sources. Joule quickly sifts through data from disparate systems and puts it into context to create smarter insights. This allows users to complete tasks faster while increasing efficiency in a secure and compliant manner. Joule demonstrates SAP’s vast experience in developing revolutionary technology that delivers concrete results.
“Almost 300 million users in companies worldwide regularly work with cloud solutions from SAP. Joule therefore has the potential to profoundly change the way companies do business and the way their employees work,” said Christian Klein, CEO and member of the Board of Management of SAP SE. “Joule leverages SAP’s unique ability to link technology and business processes. The Assistant builds on our concept for enterprise AI that is relevant, reliable and responsible. Joule not only understands the user’s instructions, but also the business context in which they are given.”
Joule will be integrated into SAP applications – from human resources to finance, supply chain management, purchasing and customer experience – as well as the SAP Business Technology Platform. Joule opens up completely new possibilities for SAP users. Employees simply ask a question or formulate a problem to be solved using voice commands. You then receive intelligent answers based on rich business data from across the SAP portfolio and third-party sources, while maintaining business context. For example, a manufacturer could use Joule to better understand its sales performance. Joule is able to identify underperforming regions, link to data sets that highlight a problem in the supply chain, and automatically connect to the supply chain system to offer possible solutions to the manufacturer. Joule will continually provide new scenarios for all SAP solutions. For example, Joule can help HR departments create unbiased job descriptions and formulate appropriate interview questions.
“After the initial great euphoria surrounding generative AI, it is now a matter of achieving a measurable return on investment,” explained Phil Carter, Group Vice President for Worldwide Thought Leadership Research at analyst firm IDC. “SAP is aware that generative AI will ultimately be an important part of our everyday lives and the world of work. We are now in the process of developing an assistant for companies that generates answers based on real scenarios. At the same time, SAP is laying down the necessary guidelines for the responsible use of generative AI.”
Joule will be available with SAP SuccessFactors solutions and SAP Start later this year and with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition early next year. This is followed by SAP Customer Experience and SAP Ariba solutions together with the SAP Business Technology Platform. Numerous other areas of application within the SAP portfolio are presented on the SuccessConnectOctober 2nd to 4th, at the SAP SpendConnect LIVEOctober 9th to 11th, at the SAP Customer Experience LIVE on October 25th and on the SAP TechEdNovember 2nd to 3rd.
More than 26,000 SAP Cloud customers can use SAP Business AI across numerous scenarios and partner solutions. Joule builds on and extends these existing SAP Business AI offerings. SAP’s comprehensive strategy to build a pioneering enterprise AI ecosystem also includes direct investments, such as Investments in Aleph Alpha, Anthropic and Cohere announced in Julyas well as collaboration with third parties, such as partnerships with Microsoft, Google Cloud and IBM, which were announced in May. Sapphire Ventures LLC, a global software venture capital firm, is funded by SAP and is investing over $1 billion in AI-powered enterprise technology startups.
