The house is located in Corsica and was built more than fifty years ago by the deceased, who fell in love with Île-Rousse.
“Françoise had come on vacation to Corsica”, reports Jean-Joseph Allegrini-Simonetti, mayor of the town, from 2003 to 2020, who knew her well. “She bought land and built a villa in a housing estate that was struggling to sell because at the time no one wanted land by the sea…Today plots are overpriced .”
“She really wanted to do something for L’Île-Rousse and I offered to make a bequest to the CCAS and she accepted right away. She was a widow and without an heir,” adds the former mayor to The voice of the North.
This is the first time that the municipality has received such a bequest: “It’s a remarkable gesture”, adds the mayor. Françoise, however, has set her conditions: her villa must either be used for children or for the elderly.
