Sebastian Vettel bids for parts of his F1 machine at charity auction[F1-Gate.com]

Sebastian Vettel has won the sidepod of his F1 car at a charity auction.

Sebastian Vettel, who retired from F1 at the end of the season, was awarded the Gregor Grant Lifetime Achievement Award at the Autosport Awards on Monday in recognition of his long and successful career in F1. But Vettel didn’t just focus on the awards ceremony.

Sebastian Vettel was in the middle of an online auction for parts for his Aston Martin. The 35-year-old driver was keen to keep the AMR21 sidepods for his own F1 collection.

“I’m trying to buy back the sidepods. What time is it now? Oops, it’s past eleven o’clock. Did you get the sidepods? I bid on it,” said Sebastian Vettel on the podium at the Autosport Awards.

“The team didn’t tell me about it. I can’t believe it. They gave my sidepod for auction and I’m trying to buy it back. I’m not sure I got it. Do not have”

In the end, it turned out that Sebastian Vettel won the auction, and he became the owner of his own Aston Martin sidepod once again.

Sebastian Vettel sold the item for £2,555.

When asked if he would miss racing, retired F1 Sebastian Vettel said: “It’s something I love so much. I think it’s an opportunity to work with so many people who are doing it,” he commented.
