Sebastián Viera raised the tone of his voice as he listened to the questions that the Barranquilla press asked this Sunday, after Junior defeated América de Cali 1-0 at the Metropolitano stadium, in a match on date 8 of the BetPlay I-2022 League.
The archer and captain shark was not bothered by the questions of the journalists his person and coach Juan Cruz Real; in fact both answered each of the questions. However, the Uruguayan asked for a bit of sanity from those who analyze the current Junior seasonbecause he feels that they strongly judge the current coach and the squad he has.
“I’m happy with my teammates, because we got zero again, they played seriously, minimized a lot of mistakes and that makes us look good as a team. They are complicated games, with very fast people up front, with strong people, Junior was able to control well and we have to continue along these lines”, was the first thing that Viera analyzed.
However, Viera recalled that “I’ve been in Junior’s goal for 11 years”, and showed his annoyance at seeing how the local press demands that Junior be a devastating team home and away in the Colombian league.
“We also want to win at home and away, but no team in the world sweeps home and away. We must reach the finals and after that the games are won by one goal, you don’t need to destroy. We play a competitive League, in which the rivals prepare to become champions the same and only one wins. This is football, there are times that times work out for you, other times they don’t. There are times that you (journalists) look for a way around it, what happens, what in the dressing room, what else. football is simple. The ball enters you or it does not enter you, do not look for malice where there is none. Never destroy, it is very difficult and less in this type of League, “said the Uruguayan goalkeeper.
Viera asked for memory, and review what Junior’s campaigns have been in Colombian soccerto remember that Junior was never a team that rode the League.
“In 2019 when we came out champions, how do we get into the octagonal? We did not enter first, nor second, nor third. How did Cali enter last year? So what are you talking about, if you know how the championship is. It is known how it is here, that now nothing is decided, the important thing is to enter the eight. If you tell me that another championship, in which we must always be first, it goes, but not in this one. In the three Leagues that I have here, when have we swept away and when have we not suffered? I’ve been here for 11 years and we’ve never won 5-0 every game. You have to analyze before asking the questions, because it seems that they don’t analyze or that they don’t know what it is here. We have never been champion from top to bottom and easy. Ours has always been suffering, putting in, giving birth to matches. We don’t play alone, we are human. As much as you think we have the super team, we don’t. Here in the League there are many good teams that want to screw you.
