SEHA organizes an integrated mental health training program for family physicians

The external therapeutic services, one of the facilities of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA”, organized an integrated mental health training program for its family physicians, with the aim of training and qualifying primary care providers, to deal with mental health conditions, and to examine and diagnose common mental illnesses early in the disease, and treat health effects Psychological conditions arising from medical conditions with the aim of providing comprehensive care.

The Deputy Medical Executive Director of the External Therapeutic Services, Dr. Wejdan Abdul Razzaq Ahmed, said that SEHA is keen to empower its healthcare professionals and provide them with opportunities for learning and development, noting that this training initiative is another approach to support SEHA workers and provide them with tools. necessary to be able to assess and manage minor mental health disorders and know when a patient should be referred to a psychiatric department.

For her part, Dr. Nahida Niaz Ahmed, a consultant psychiatrist in the external therapeutic services and chair of the Clinical Board of Psychiatry at SEHA, said that the external therapeutic services organized online training seminars and workshops presented by specialists from all over the world, and continued in 8 sessions over a period of about Six months, about 23 primary care physicians working in external therapeutic services and Al Dhafra hospitals participated, and included several lectures and workshops on dealing with mental health patients. The training program will be completed and approved for health care providers who care about mental health.
