Sergio Perez of Red Bull F1 talks about “difference in driving style with Verstappen”[F1-Gate.com]

Sergio Perez has grown accustomed to his Red Bull Racing F1 car, but admits there are still many differences in driving style between himself and team-mate Max Verstappen.

In the first year of Red Bull Racing, Sergio Perez struggled with the Red Bull F1 machine, which has different characteristics than before, but this year, which was reborn as a new generation F1 machine, he approached Max Ferstappen at a pure pace and won one. With five 2nd-place finishes, he maintains his 3rd place ranking.

Sergio Perez is 85 points behind Max Verstappen at the halfway point of the season but says he is encouraged by his overall form.

“It’s my second year with the team and I think the regulation change definitely helped me,” Sergio Perez told RacingNews365.

“It’s a good improvement. I think I’m more comfortable in the car this season.”

In terms of how he drives an F1 car compared to Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez explains he is often “looking for something different” in his set-up.

Asked if Max Verstappen wants more oversteer in the car and a sharper feel, Perez said: “Sometimes it’s very close, some weekends are very close, Some weekends aren’t so close,” he said.

Asked to share details, Sergio Perez said: “If you look at how we throttle and how we brake, that’s the biggest difference between us.”

“But more than that, I think it’s very difficult to compare the different driving styles of the drivers, because it’s different every time.”

Despite the pair wanting “something different” for the RB18, Perez has denied that it makes car development more challenging for Red Bull as a result.

“No, we are both pushing the direction of the car,” said Perez.

“At the end of the day, the team is developing and trying to make the most of it every weekend.”

Sergio Perez has a simple answer on how Red Bull Racing can improve the balance of the RB18 and gain time in the second half of the season.

“It’s good to improve overall and try to be a little more perfect in all areas,” summed up Sergio Perez.
