Dhe American singer Marilyn Manson (52) has denied abuse allegations by actress Evan Rachel Wood and several other women. His art and his life have long been “magnets for controversy”, but the latest claims about him are “terrible falsifications of reality,” wrote the musician on Monday evening (local time) on Instagram. His intimate relationships with like-minded partners have always been amicable. This is the truth, no matter how others distort the past, Manson continued.
The singer responded to an Instagram post by Wood (33) in which the actress (“Westworld”, “Kajillionaire”) accused her former boyfriend of years of “horrific” abuse. This started when she was a teenager. Manson manipulated and suppressed them. You no longer want to live in fear of revenge, slander or blackmail, but now to expose this “dangerous” man, Wood wrote on Monday.
Other women, including models Sarah McNeilly and Ashley Lindsay Morgan, also spoke out on Instagram with allegations against Manson.
Manson’s record label then distanced itself from the shock rocker. “In light of the disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women today who label Marilyn Manson as an abuser, Loma Vista is discontinuing the promotion of its current album with immediate effect,” the American label announced on Twitter on Monday. The company will no longer work with Manson in the future, it said. Loma Vista Recordings released the Manson album “We Are Chaos” in the fall.
The relationship of the then 19-year-old Wood with the rocker twice his age became known in 2007. After several interruptions, the couple got engaged in 2010, but separated a little later. Wood has talked about abuse experiences several times in the past few years, but without naming names. In 2018, the actress spoke out in front of a committee of the American Congress for the rights of victims of sexual violence.
