Julen Lopetegui begins a new journey with Seville this season, as he looks forward to competing with the big Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for the Spanish League title, which the royal crowned with a difference of 13 points from Barcelona, the runner-up.
Seville finished the Spanish League last season 2021-2022, in fourth place with 70 points, to secure its place in the Champions League this season.
The Andalusian team enters its first match in the League against Osasuna, without Jules Conde, its most prominent defender, after joining Barcelona this summer, in addition to Diego Carlos, who left for Aston Villa.
But Seville included Real Madrid’s midfielder Francesco Isco, Brazilian Marcao of Galatasaray and Alex Telles, back of Manchester United.
Seville plays today’s match, against Osasuna, amid doubts about the players’ performance, especially after receiving two friendly defeats in England, most notably the big defeat of half a dozen goals against Arsenal in the Emirates Cup.
Real Madrid won the Spanish League title last season, and will start the campaign to defend its title against Almeria on Sunday, at the “Mediterranean Games” stadium.
Real Madrid begins its campaign in the League tomorrow, with high spirits, after winning the fifth European Super title in its history, after beating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 at the “Olympic Stadium” in Helsinki, Finland.
