Sharjah: The number of passengers arriving at Sharjah Airport in the first quarter of this year has increased significantly. More than 30 lakh people visited in the first three months. This is an increase of 13 lakh passengers (119.2%) over the same period last year.
There has also been a huge increase in the number of flights arriving during this period. During the same period last year, 11279 aircraft arrived, this year it was 21336. The volume of goods also increased by 26.39%, officials said. 39566 tonnes of cargo arrived in the first quarter of this year.
In March alone, 14,457 tonnes of cargo arrived. Passengers arriving at the airport on Eid were greeted with flowers and gifts by the authorities. The children were given Eid gifts.
