Shea Weber organizes team activities (despite the distance)

Working on team spirit is not an easy challenge. After all, a hockey chamber is a gathering of lots of guys from different backgrounds who have to find a way to get along.

In San José, it didn’t work in 2019-2020. This is what Marc-Édouard Vlasic said to explain the difficult season for the Sharks.

The Quebec defender also looks back on a tasty anecdote from his early years involving a former Montreal Canadiens. When a casino fight becomes positive in the eyes of the organization …

In Montreal as elsewhere, the challenge is important at this level in 2020. The CH has possibly passed the Penguins because of the team spirit that was formed in the bubble (according to Brett Kulak, at least), which shows that it is no less important than anything else.

But since? All the guys have come home and the team spirit is having a cold. Especially taking into account that there are new pawns on the board.

But that’s not what will stop Shea Weber. Since everything can be done in 2020 by Zoom, the captain of the Canadiens decided to organize remote training sessions with his teammates.

For example? He organized stationary bike races with his teammates. So the guys train “together” and form a team spirit – to the extent possible.

This is what Patrick Delisle-Houde said (Canadian physical preparation coordinator) at a press conference and which was reported by Benoît Rioux this afternoon.

After taking his hat off to Weber, he also complimented Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who “understood things” during his time in Laval.

In the case of KK, it’s simple, he has matured. He understood he needed to train harder and he did it. Well done! – Delisle-Houde

Once again, a stint in the AHL at 19 or 20 is not the end of the world… and it allowed KK to become the player he was in the playoffs.

Let’s hope for the Canadian that the team spirit, that the training and that the results of this summer are carried over to the next season.
