Shooting stars: a great opportunity this week

The odds will peak on the night of October 6-7. However, the meteors could be visible until October 10.

The Draconids are of medium intensity: it is possible to see nearly 10 meteorites per hour in the best conditions. So it doesn’t compare to the Perseids, for example.

In addition, the first quarter moon risks eclipsing the most timid shooting stars, and only the brightest are likely to stand out. A good show is still possible.

Unusual fact: the best time to observe them will be early in the evening. Generally, the few hours before dawn have the greatest potential.

The Draconids are remnants of comet 21P Giacobini-Zinner, discovered in 1900.
