Shortly before extradition: One of the ten most wanted Nazi criminals is dead

Shortly before a planned extradition, the alleged Nazi criminal Helmut Oberlander died in Canada at the age of 97. Oberlander lived in the city of Waterloo in the province of Ontario and most recently worked as a real estate developer, Canadian media reported on Thursday, citing his family.

Oberlander was the last of a total of twelve Canadians accused of Nazi crimes. The other eleven had also died before Canada could extradite them.
