Skin cancer strikes 1 in 2 Belgians before the age of 75

This cancer is the cause of 450 deaths per year in Belgium and each year.

In recent years, the number of skin cancers detected has increased impressively in Belgium and everywhere in the world. Moreover, on average, one in five Belgians develop skin cancer before the age of 75, according to a survey carried out by the Foundation against cancer. “The number of these cancers is exploding,” indicates Professor Jean-François Baurain, head of the medical oncology department at the Saint-Luc University Clinics (UCL).
