AWhen asked about the first German champion in 1903, many would fail today, because for most fans football history begins with the almost 60-year-old Bundesliga. And before?

The miracle of Bern, of course. But otherwise? Even those who want to find out something about the time before the Second World War have difficulties with today’s search methods. And what for? Who cares who scored goals against whom 120 years ago?

Udo Luy, 73, sees it differently. Completely different, as it should be for a hunter-gatherer. In a previous life he collected butterflies until after about 70,000. Specimen thought it was good. 20 years ago he looked for a new hobby and became the prehistoric of German football.
