Soil consumption: exhibition targets land consumption

Building land hoarding, urban sprawl, rising housing prices: The Architekturzentrum Wien documents in “Soil for All” problems in spatial planning that are also known in Salzburg.

Franz Seidl, Vice President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Engineers / Sbg and Karoline Mayer, Curator of the Vienna Architecture Center, invite you to the exhibition in Bayerhamerstraße. One focus is dedicated to tourism in Salzburg.

On average, 37.4 square meters of flooring are sealed every minute in Austria. 2.6 new buildings are completed every hour – two thirds of all buildings are single-family houses. “These are numbers that are shocking and intended to make it clear that it is time to act,” says Karoline Mayer. The curator of the Architekturzentrum Wien and her team have compiled data for the exhibition “Soil for All” that illustrate the consumption of space.
