CALIFORNIA – Fan PlayStation The store will soon need a new place to rent movies.

The reason is, Sony will stop the ability to rent and buy movies or TV shows from the PlayStation Store. The changes will take effect on August 31, 2021.

The good news for film tenants at PlayStation is not taking long to find a replacement. Services like YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and Vudu are some of the biggest movie rental apps in the world, and they’re all available on the PlayStation Store.

In a statement on the Blog, Sony said the biggest driver behind its decision was the increased use of ad-based streaming and subscription services, not just services that allow rentals.

Other than that, PlayStation The store also has a lot to choose from, with services like Netflix, HBO Max, and Peacock.

Reporting from Polygon, Thursday (4/3/2021), although the ability to rent via the PlayStation Store may disappear, any content you buy will not be lost.
