Sony has officially presented its new WH-1000XM5 headphones, which have the arduous task of replacing the XM4 on the market, considered one of the best, or perhaps even the best, wireless headphones with active noise cancellation on the market. .

This year’s XM5s have a few key differences, both external and internal. Its design is different from what Sony has been using in previous generations of its top-of-the-line active noise-canceling headphones. The headband is slimmer, the cups have also been redesigned. Its design in general feels more minimalist, although it loses the possibility of folding to transport it more compactly.

Inside it has a pair of 30mm drivers that replace the only 40mm driver of the previous model, for greater clarity when listening to music, and of course it has support for the LDAC codec and up to two devices. In general, the improvements promise to be very interesting in terms of sound and even microphone audio quality, since it includes more microphones than previous generations.

Finally, the battery of the XM5 has a duration of 30 hours, similar to that of the last generation, thus denying the rumors that it would have even greater autonomy. The WH-1000XM5s go on sale for $399; stay tuned, that soon you will have our detailed review on these new Sony headphones.
