Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder founded the Petersburg Dialogue in 2001 with the aim of facilitating an exchange of views between civil society and the media from both the German and Russian sides.

“The general meeting of members of the Petersburg Dialogue, at the request of the board, decides to hold another extraordinary meeting of members in the first quarter of 2023, at which a decision will be made to dissolve the Petersburg Dialogue,” the letter provided to the publication says. The resolution was adopted at the meeting on November 18 and is to be submitted to the general meeting on November 22.

The co-chairman of the Petersburg Dialogue on the Russian side is Viktor Zubkov (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom), and on the German side, retired Federal Minister Ronald Pofalla.

Journalists, diplomats, scientists, business representatives and politicians of different parties met as part of the forum once a year in Germany or Russia – the last time about three years ago in Bonn, recalls Der Spiegel.
