  • The Italian DJ Gigi d’Agostino dominated the charts with his songs around the turn of the millennium.

  • He has been in poor health for several weeks.

  • He has now appeared again on Instagram for the first time.

The Italian DJ and music producer Gigi D’Agostino (“In My Mind”, “L’Amour Toujours”) contacted his fans again a few weeks after his illness became known. “I hope that this new year will give me some peace and strength …” wrote the 54-year-old on the social media platform Instagram. He also posted a photo that showed him on a walker. “Don’t give up, legend” or “have courage, Gigi” commented some fans below.

Exact cause of infirmity unclear

Born in Turin, Northern Italy, D’Agostino gained notoriety for his turn-of-the-millennium party hits. Many still know the music videos, such as for his hit “The Riddle” (originally by Nik Kershaw) or “Bla Bla Bla”, which show a running cartoon character that is constantly changing. Both songs were in the charts for weeks. In 2018 he made a number one hit with the Lithuanian DJ Dynoro with “In My Mind”.

The Italian announced on Instagram in mid-December that he was ill. “Unfortunately, I’ve been fighting a serious illness for a few months, which has attacked me very aggressively,” he wrote at the time. He spoke of a “constant pain”. However, he did not reveal exactly what he was missing.
