‘Stargazer’: The Plane That Could Take You From America To Asia In An Hour – Travel – Life

The frequency with which the human being finds ways to transport quickly is increasing. Currently, There is even the creation of an airplane that could travel at nine times the speed of sound.

It is the ‘Stargazer’ of the company ‘Venus Aerospace‘, which they have been developing since 2020. In order to create this hypersonic aircraft, they have raised, according to the company in an official statement, around 33 million dollars -more than 131 billion Colombian pesos- mainly provided and invested by entities private, but also by government.

For research to progress as it should, the aircraft is being built by a team of aerospace veterans, military and research personnel with the goal of successfully developing a vehicle that will, to some degree, defy high-speed limits.

How would it work?

A state-of-the-art rocket engine with zero emissions

In a general idea, the plane would have a fairly limited capacity, with around 12 people in addition to the crew. Which would be similar to a private plane, considering that a commercial flight can have up to almost 400 passengers, depending on the size of the aircraft and the airline.

Due to the speed it proposes to achieve, the plane would have to reach a great height – around 170,000 feet or 52,000 meters – which would also allow passengers, at some point in the flight, could see the curvature of the planet without having left this.

Taking into account the characteristics, the Argentine newspaper ‘La Nación’ proposes thatWith that kind of speed, you could get from Los Angeles to Tokyo – a flight that usually takes 11 1/2 hours – in an hour.

According to the official statement, one of the main objectives during the creation of this aircraft has been to strengthen three fundamental aspects so that it will eventually work: “a next-generation rocket engine with zero emissions, an innovative aircraft shape and state-of-the-art cooling. that allows the space plane to take off from the existing space ports”.

In this sense, the plane would work in such a way that at first it would take off with conventional engines and when it was already far from the cities and at a relevant height, it would be propelled with “rockets”, which would allow it such speed.

How close is the project?

Despite the fact that since 2020 work is being done on the aircraft, according to what is said in the statement, the first tests to be carried out are not likely until around 2025.

In addition to that time, it is also estimated that it will take about five years for the aircraft to be proven safe for use by humans.

Lately, man has taken it upon himself not only to get to know the outside of the world by sending explorer robots to Mars, for example, but also to facilitate mobility within the Earth.

During 2021, the Chinese company Boom Supersonic spoke about the Overture, a low-capacity commercial aircraft -around 70 passengers- that for a fixed price of 100 dollars -almost 400 thousand Colombian pesos– promises to make trips at such a speed that it cuts in half the time it is known to the public.

In addition and due to what Blake School, CEO of the company, previously mentioned to CNN, this aircraft will also take care of the environment very much in mind, since the idea is that the engines are sustainable in an ecological way.

However, like the ‘Venus Aerospace’ proposal, this aircraft would not begin its first flights until approximately 2026.

Concorde

Although the proposal for a supersonic plane seems very new, in 1976 the United Kingdom and France joined forces to build the ‘Concorde’, a supersonic plane that cut flight times between some destinations by up to half the time.

Its construction was carried out through two manufacturing companies, one from each country, the British Aircraft Corporation and Aérospatiale. In the end, seven aircraft were delivered to two of the major airlines in these countries: Air France and British Airways.

The Concordes flew, for example, between Paris and New York in a time of 3 hours and a half, while on a normal commercial flight it could take up to eight hours.

However, something that was widely criticized for this type of aircraft and its builders was their high fuel consumption, due to the repercussions that this caused on the environment.

Despite being a great advance in aeronautics, the flight of the Concorde came to an end in 2003 after one of its aircraft had a serious accident in July 2000 when leaving Paris, France, and crashed in Gonesse, very close to the French capital.

One hundred passengers and nine crew members died in this incident.

Despite being the only accident involving this type of aircraft, it was enough for a little over 15 years to pass before the possibility of creating a supersonic aircraft was mentioned again.
