Many places in Switzerland were affected by hail, heavy rain and even hurricane gusts on Pentecost Sunday. In some neighboring countries, the storm raged even more violently.

Heavy thunderstorms broke out in many areas of Switzerland on Sunday – sometimes with heavy rain and hail. According to SRF Meteo, there were hailstorms in the Mittelland in the early hours of the morning. In some places a strong wind blew, in Egolzwil in the canton of Lucerne even a hurricane gust was measured at a speed of 133 km/h. Later in the afternoon, the thunderstorms continued to move in an easterly direction.
