Despite the increase in the number of infections, the number of corona patients in hospitals fell by 121 to 4891. That is far less than the more than 32,000 corona patients who were in hospital beds at the height of the outbreak in April.
The number of people with the virus in intensive care has also decreased further, to 379. Health Minister Olivier Véran says that infections nowadays lead to serious complications less often than earlier this year.
“There are several explanations for this, in particular that patients with Covid are now younger, 20 to 40, and less vulnerable,” said the minister on French television. “And because older people continue to protect themselves well.”
