The League of Nations does not have the importance or the beauty of a Euro, let alone a World Cup, the general public barely understands how it works, but, to see the happiness of the Blues at the time of raising a new trophy on Sunday evening at San Siro, this week will count in the life of the France team.
All is not perfect, but, in three days, the world champions, with panache and freshness, have in turn thrashed Belgium and Spain – the first nation in the Fifa rankings and a falling Roja of Italy European champion in the semi-finals – for a brilliantly successful reconquest operation three months after the failure of the Euro.
Arriving in Italy on Wednesday, after the last rotten summer, the men of Didier Deschamps carried around a slew of questions to finally leave Sunday with its share of answers and a newfound confidence. Thirteen months before the World Cup in Qatar, the spark and the thirst to win still persist
