The number of new infections is skyrocketing
On Wednesday, the city of Würzburg registered 75.07 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants over the past seven days, as the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) announced. This means that the number of people infected with Corona has risen sharply. The district is also approaching the nationwide agreed corona limit of 50 per 100,000 inhabitants with 42.64 new infections. The Upper Franconian city of Kulmbach and its district had exceeded this on Wednesday with 54.28 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. According to the LGL, only Kaufbeuren (54.68) and Garmisch-Partenkirchen (57.65) lie above this in the Free State.
Private celebration probably trigger
A week ago, the district of Kulmbach was considered corona-free. At a private party, however, it is said that young people in particular were infected with the virus.
With immediate effect, various contact restrictions apply to private and public events in the district. Five classes have been quarantined at a secondary school and a vocational school.
Mask requirement in Würzburg schools should be retained
The Würzburg district office wants to keep the mask requirement in class due to the increasing corona numbers. In a first step, the health department set the schools and day-care centers in the district to warning level “yellow”. According to this, schoolchildren from the fifth grade must still wear a mouth and nose cover in the classroom if the minimum distance of 1.5 meters is not guaranteed there. An open care system is no longer possible in daycare centers and the groups are no longer allowed to mix.
63 107 Corona cases in Bavaria
According to the LGL, 63 107 people have so far tested positive for the corona virus in Bavaria. So far there have been 2,645 deaths in the Free State.
