Muslim League and RSP, the constituent parties of UDF, said that K Sudhakaran’s tainted statements of support for BJP cannot be reduced to ‘word penalty’. The portrayal of Nehru as a leader who had reconciled with fascism became a hot topic in the Congress as well. Major leaders rejected Sudhakaran. Knowing the depth of the crisis, KC Venugopal and Tariq Anwar made a hasty statement that all the problems had been resolved, but to no avail. The disquiet in the Congress came out in the opinion of VD Satheesan and K Muralidharan.
K Muraleedharan MP openly said that Sudhakaran’s statement has affected the unity of the front. They are actively discussing whether Sudhakaran should be given the post of KPCC president after quarreling with the League. The leaders themselves say that the resignation of the DCC member in Alappuzha is a symbol of the protest of ordinary workers.
Sudhakaran’s statement that he has given protection to the RSS branch is frowned upon in the Muslim League ranks. It was at this stage that Nehru made a pact with the RSS. MK Muneer’s attempt to simplify the issue by saying that he had expressed his displeasure, raised a voice from the league itself. League leader PMA Salam said that such statements in Sudhakaran’s absence have seriously affected the front. The league does not find it funny that K Surendran said that K Sudhakaran’s mind was always with them. RSP leaders are also strongly protesting.
K Muralidharan’s position is that there is no need to compromise against Sudhakaran. Sudhakaran himself should intervene and resolve the protest in the constituent parties. The leaders said that it will be discussed in the Political Affairs Committee on 17th.
Defending UDF: Muslim League
PMA Salam, who is in charge of the state general secretary of the Muslim League, said that K Sudhakaran’s statements were untimely and inappropriate. Statements make the UDF defensive. At first I thought it was a mistake. However, false statements are repeated.
It should not have been said in public. Salam told reporters that he would tell the Muslim League if they asked for their opinion on bringing Shashi Tharoor to the leadership of the Congress in Kerala.
Muslim League high power committee today
The Muslim League high-powered committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss the party’s position as K Sudhakaran continues to make pro-RSS statements. The meeting will be held at Malappuram League House at 11 am. A meeting of state officials will also be held.
Muslim League leaders reacted against K Sudhakaran, who appeared as the savior of RSS, including through social media. Leaders are also worried that they will have to pay a heavy price if they ignore the statement whitewashing the RSS. Sudhakaran repeated that if he decided to join the RSS, he would leave, which confused the league.
All India Secretary PK Kunhalikutty also stated that he will look into the matter. State Secretary MK Muneer said that ‘Rahul Gandhi had said during the Bharat Jodo Yatra that those who are RSS-minded can leave the party. The state president Panakkad Sadikhali called the high-powered committee in consultation with himself and PK Kunhalikutty.
Sudhakaran’s politics is dangerous: CK Sreedharan
Former Vice President CK Sreedharan said that KPCC President K Sudhakaran’s support of RSS is very dangerous politics. A pro-RSS statement cannot be dismissed as a fluke. Sensible people know where Sudhakaran is looking. The public statement that the RSS stood guard was not limited to that. It will have consequences. That is what he means.
A democratic, secularist historical figure like Nehru was established as an ally of RSS fascism. Congress national leadership should answer this. CK Sreedharan said that the ranks are not satisfied that the national leadership did not respond despite the public response of the left parties and the Muslim League.
