Suicides in Wallonia: worrying figures

In 2021, the number of consultations related to suicide increased by 24%, alert “A pass in the Impasse”.

“ABefore the pandemic, on average, five people took their own lives every day in Belgium. It is one of the European countries where suicide is the most devastating. Since then, the health crisis has gone through this even if it is not yet possible to quantify its impact on the problem of suicide because the scientifically validated figures for 2020 will not be published for another year.explains Thomas Thirion, managing director of the ASBL Un pass dans l’impasse, the only structure specializing in suicide prevention in Wallonia.
