Famous creator of Super Smash Bros, Masahiro Sakurai would like to see a forgotten Nintendo license return to Switch.

Very present on his YouTube channel “Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games”, where he presents principles of game designthe emblematic figure of Super Smash Bros recently posted a video in which he evokes the idea of a carrying of Kid Icarus Uprising on Nintendo Switch.

Kid Icarus Uprising on Switch? Masahiro Sakurai would like

It was at the very end of the video that Sakurai made this statement, arousing the curiosity of fans: “Would be nice to play Kid Icarus: Uprising on a home console…I wonder if anyone will ever wear it?” », he said. Enough to relaunch a rumor that appeared last summer: the leaker Zippo had claimed that a game remaster on Switch is well in preparation for 2023, and that Nintendo would have entrusted the development to Bandai Namco. With, we imagine, the supervision of Sakurai, who had made the original game released on 3DS in 2012.

Job offers published a few months ago by Bandai Namco give weight to this rumor. They specifically evoked the HD remaster of a 3D action game from a Nintendo license.

Despite its tense handling, Kid Icarus Uprising had been well received by players and critics. It embodies Pit, an angel helped by the goddess Palutena and opposed to the dark forces of Medusa. Born in 1986 on NES, the license has not experienced a new episode since the 3DS opus.

On his side, Masahiro Sakurai announced to be at work on a new project “far from game production” last March, after several years of working on Super Smash Bros Ultimate and its DLCs.
