New Delhi > The Supreme Court has upheld the High Court’s order quashing the appointment of Dalit activist Rekha Raj as Assistant Professor in Gandhian Studies at MG University. The court held that the method of appointment is pure nonsense and cannot be accepted.
The High Court order was on a petition filed by Nisha Velappannayer, who is ranked second in the rank list. A division bench comprising Justices PB Suresh Kumar and CS Sudha held that the criteria for assigning marks to the interview was not legal. The Division Bench heard the appeal against the judgment of the Single Bench upholding the appointment.
