Four people swept away by the avalanche – one dead († 24)

An avalanche caught three people on Saturday afternoon on the Piz Radönt. One of them fell and was fatally injured, another was slightly injured.

A group of four people wanted to climb the Piz Radönt coming from the Flüela Pass on Saturday morning. After setting up a ski depot below the northeast gully, they ascended through that gully. They were below the summit just before noon when an avalanche broke loose.

According to initial findings, the people walking below, two men and a woman, were caught and carried away. A 24-year-old fell about two hundred meters over rocks. The other man and the woman, who had suffered minor injuries, carried out first aid measures on the person who had fallen and alerted the rescue services.
