Recently, there has been a lot of uproar in Cambodia’s work fraud. After being deceived into Cambodia, many Chinese people have either become part of a fraud group, or have been brutally beaten, sexually assaulted, and even brutalized by live organ harvesting. According to mainland media reports, a couple surnamed Peng in Fujian, mainland China, recently went to Sihanoukville, Cambodia to open a restaurant there. They were suspected of posting a post that was regarded as showing off their wealth. The couple was murdered inexplicably. Shuangshuang’s corpse was in the toilet, and their belongings were also looted, leaving behind an elderly mother and three underage children, who didn’t know what to do.
According to comprehensive mainland media reports, the mainland couple went to Cambodia to conduct a production inspection of cement brick products through introduction in May 2019. Originally, they wanted to set up a local factory to operate, but in the past two years, due to the impact of the epidemic, local policies have changed. Because the husband was borrowing money to invest, he was burdened with huge economic pressure, so he had to switch to a local restaurant to make a living.
In addition to running the restaurant, the couple also do some part-time jobs at night. The work content is probably to do some small dollar exchange, express parcels and other work. Later in May 2020, the local epidemic situation was severe, because many mainland Chinese businessmen who stayed in Cambodia wanted to return to the mainland and had the demand to exchange US dollars for RMB. The couple saw the currency exchange business opportunity and found a schematic diagram of US dollars online. In the post, he told the public, “To exchange US dollars, who needs RMB, hurry up and hurry up.” As a result, it was suspected that the two were mistaken for being rich, and they were finally killed. The husband and wife both died in the toilet.
Relatives of the deceased said that after the couple was killed, not only did they die, but all valuable property such as cash, mobile phones, and jewelry in the house were looted. The murder weapon is very difficult to solve. However, the family believes that it may be possible to check the background of the post system to see who has browsed the information on the exchange of US dollars.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country also reminds that if people want to work in Southeast Asia and other places, they must first find out the company they are about to work for, whether they have been legally registered in the local area, and whether the industry complies with local laws and regulations.
