The luxury fashion house “Balenciaga” hired the famous popular Syrian wedding singer, Omar Suleiman, to perform a party after the presentation of its latest collection, on the sidelines of the Paris Fashion Week.

The pioneers of social networking sites circulated a video clip of the Syrian artist igniting the atmosphere of the party that followed the presentation of the house’s collection for the spring and summer of 2023.
The artist presented a bouquet of his folk songs that are suitable for popular weddings, in the presence of the creative director of the Spanish fashion house, and a number of guests.
Omar Suleiman is famous for his song “Warni and Warni”, and his songs are characterized by a mixture of Kurdish, Chawi and Iraqi dialects.
Although the party attendees are not Arabs, and do not understand the lyrics of his songs, they interacted with him enthusiastically, some of whom danced and chanted and others encouraged him with applause.
As for the look that he adopted, Suleiman chose the traditional outfit that he was famous for. He wore a beige kandoora, with a red hat and a headband, while he adopted black sunglasses.
Who is Omar Suleiman?
Omar Suleiman was born in the town of “Ras al-Ain” in the city of al-Hasakah in northeastern Syria. He is 62 years old, and he was born in 1960.
The artist was not raised in a musical family, as he declared in one of the interviews: “I was not born into a musical family, but in my region one cannot escape from music. One of my friends encouraged me to sing at local concerts, and shortly thereafter, in 1995, I met the Syrian Kurdish organist Said Rizan. Since then I have been singing professionally with him at wedding parties all over northeastern Syria.”
Suleiman began his artistic career by singing at weddings in Arabic and Kurdish, but he began to expand his successes after leaving Syria in 2011, and his star rose after his participation in the Nobel Peace Prize, along with the most famous international singers, including: James Blunt, Morrissey, and Jack Bag.
Suleiman performed huge concerts in Europe, the Americas and Canada due to his wide fame. He also collaborated with many international singers, including the famous singer “Bjork”, with whom he recorded the song “Crystalline”, and also recorded a song in cooperation with the Australian band “CDC”.
Among his most famous songs, suitable for folk weddings, are: “Khataba.. Khattaba”, “Jani”, “Lakhti don’t Tzaal”, “Toul Khaizana”, “Haram”, “Warni and Warni”, and many others.
