“Tahrir al-Sham” announces the cessation of its military campaign in the countryside of Lattakia

“We announce the end of the tension in Jabal al-Turkman in the northern countryside of Latakia, which was with a group of fanatics involved in security issues and harboring wanted men,” the HTS’s media office said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement added that “it was reached to hand over those who remained of them to look into their condition, hand over all those wanted by the security forces before the recent events, and release the Almoravids who had treacherously captured them.”

The statement indicated that “most members of the Chechen factions were killed and wounded during the confrontations, and that they took a number of the stationed prisoners as human shields” during the battle. And he continued, “With this, the extremists’ page in Jabal al-Turkman has been closed, to return to our main battle with the Assad regime and its militias.”

On Wednesday evening, the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al-Sham set three conditions to stop its military attack on the headquarters and sites controlled by the “Soldiers of God” brigade in the Jabal al-Turkman region.

Opposition websites said that Tahrir al-Sham agreed to stop its military campaign against the “Jund Allah” battalion led by “Abu Fatima al-Turki” on the condition that the battalion be dissolved in the area.

It also agreed to release the 12 detainees from HTS fighters, hand over all those wanted to the judiciary, and leave the Idlib region after handing over the headquarters and garter points to the military factions in Idlib.

The leadership of the “Soldiers of God” accepted all these conditions, on the condition that all of its members be secured for the exit of all its members to the Afrin area in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo.

Dozens of members of the two factions were killed and wounded as a result of the mutual clashes, and the “Jund Allah” battalion was able to arrest a group of HTS members, while they were trying to advance on the latter’s control positions.

Tahrir al-Sham launched a campaign against Salafist organizations west of Idlib and in the Jabal al-Turkman region, where al-Julani’s campaign targeted the “Jund Allah” battalion, which includes foreign fighters of Azerbaijani and Turkish nationality, as well as Syrians, in addition to the “Junud al-Sham” faction led by Muslim the Chechen.
