[台北 ６日 ロイター] – The Taiwanese government expressed its condolences to the victims and bereaved families after the earthquake that struck China’s Sichuan province on the 6th, and said it was ready to dispatch a rescue team.
Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen said in a statement that she hoped the rescue and recovery efforts would go smoothly and that normal life would resume as soon as possible.
The magnitude 6.8 quake was the worst since 2017, killing at least 46 people.
The president’s office said it was not aware of casualties among Taiwanese.
Taiwan’s fire department has said its rescue teams are ready and ready to depart if instructed to do so, but China has not said whether it will accept foreign rescue teams.
In 2008, Taiwan dispatched a support team when a large-scale earthquake occurred in the same Sichuan province, causing extensive damage.
