Taliban bans girls from studying; The boys boycotted the class World | Deshabhimani

Boys protested by boycotting classes against the Taliban’s ban on university education for girls in Afghanistan. The students warned that the boycott would continue if girls’ classes were not resumed. The campaign is also active on social media with the hashtag ‘She should learn’ against the ban. Several teachers at Kabul University called on the Taliban to reconsider the decision. It is also reported that many teachers have resigned from their jobs in protest against the decision. The Ministry of Higher Education in Afghanistan ordered the suspension of higher education for girls on the 20th until further notice.

Meanwhile, the Taliban government canceled the operating licenses of three international non-governmental voluntary organizations with female employees. Last day, the Finance Minister had ordered that women should be banned from NGOs working in Afghanistan. Licenses of NGOs in education, health and child care sectors have been cancelled. The UN condemned the Taliban action. The heads of the voluntary organizations said that without women staff they could not work effectively among women and children.
