Since 1970, the crime series has ensured top ratings on Sunday evenings.
More than 1,100 crime novels have already flickered on TV screens since the first crime scene was shown on WDR in November 1970. In the past 50 years, over 100 TV commissioners have investigated and given the crime series cult status. This is mainly due to one thing. Götz George played in 29 episodes between 1981 and 1991 the detained inspector Horst Schimanski and made him a cult figure.
Austro investigators very popular
The domestic investigator duo Bibi Fellner (Adele Neuhauser) and Moritz Eisner (Harald Krassnitzer) are in fourth place in the ranking of the most popular TV inspectors. The best are the Münster Tatort stars, Axel Prahl and Jan Josef Liefers.
For the 50th birthday, ORF 2 is showing the anniversary crime scene today as a double episode with the investigative teams from Dortmund and Munich. It’s about the machinations of the Italian mafia in a small pizzeria in Dortmund. Part 2 runs on December 6th at 8.15 p.m. on ORF 2.
