The Tamarii Pointe des Pêcheurs association received prisoners from Tatutu this morning to raise their awareness of the protection of corals and marine fauna.

Four detainees from the Tatutu penitentiary center were in Punaauia this morning at the tip of the fishermen. They participated in the replanting of new coral cuttings. The objective of this operation was to regenerate the corals of this part of Punaauia.

Upon their arrival, an area for cultivating corals had already been set up for the inmates of Tatutu prison. They took part in several workshops organized with the Tamarii Pointe des Pêcheurs association, which has been working since 2008 to protect the lagoon, the fauna and flora. The goal is to enable them to understand the issues and the importance of the survival of corals. They also learned what a Rahui was, and the role of sea animals. At the end of this activity, participants will plant their piece of coral.
