The teenager placed in police custody for the murder of a five-year-old girl on Tuesday in the Vosges was already indicted for rape of a minor for facts dating back to last year, the Epinal prosecution said on Wednesday.
The young man had been indicted “on counts of forcible confinement without voluntary release, rape and sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor, for acts committed in February 2022”, said prosecutor Frédéric Nahon in a press release.
This 15-year-old boy had been placed in a closed educational center for almost a year until last February, when he returned to the family home “with follow-up by the judicial protection of youth “, underlined the prosecutor.
“A previously ordered psychiatric expertise concluded that there were no mental disorders,” he said.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday morning, the mother of the five-year-old girl, whose lifeless body was discovered the day before in Rambervillers, vented her anger that the suspect had been released.
“I want justice to be done and that the sick are no longer left out, because they are not destroying a single life, they are destroying the life of the whole family,” she said.

In his press release, the prosecutor briefly returned to the course of events on Tuesday.
He specified that the girl’s parents had reported around 3:10 p.m. the disappearance of the child since 2 p.m., “while she was playing in a square near the family home”.
“Shortly after this report, a 15-year-old young man contacted the police and told them that he was in the presence of the girl,” he continued.
“The gendarmes asked went to the young man’s home. They discovered the lifeless body of the girl in a plastic bag. The defendant was immediately arrested and placed in custody on the charge of murder of a 15-year-old minor” .
The press release does not specify whether or not the prosecution intends to organize a press conference on this case.
