Paris The Deutsche Telekom and the French company OVHcloud want to jointly develop a cloud platform for particularly sensitive data and thus stand up to the US Internet giant. The aim of this partnership is to make a trustworthy cloud offer for the German, French and other European markets, the companies announced on Monday.

The offer should be available from the beginning of 2021. It addresses the special needs of the public sector as well as important infrastructure operators and companies of all sizes that are active in strategic or sensitive areas of public interest.

The cloud market is growing rapidly. The Gartner experts anticipate growth of 6.3 percent to $ 257.9 million this year (around 218 million euros). This is being driven by the increasing number of employees in the home office, which is why secure storage is becoming more important. The US tech giants’ market share Amazon, Microsoft and Google is estimated at 60 percent.
