Dhe Porsche Panamera is perhaps the sportiest touring sedan on the market. Increasing the range between comfort and dynamism was at the top of the facelift of the second generation, which has been available since 2016. To achieve this, the engineers have subtly revised the damping, electronics and steering. There are also changed bearings for engines and axles as well as new tires for the luxurious four-door.
Visually, the changes to the sedan, the estate-like Sport Turismo and the executive version with a long wheelbase remain subtle. The engine range has been reorganized. In the base model at a price of 91,345 euros, which is the only version powered only by the rear wheels, the 330 hp 2.9-liter V6 biturbo continues to work. There is 20 hp more in the GTS for 136,933 euros, which now draws 480 hp from the well-known four-liter V8 biturbo. The previous top engine, the Panamera Turbo, will be replaced by the Turbo S, which costs at least 179,737 euros. Porsche has not only given it a new front section with larger side air intakes, but also 80 hp more power. The four-liter V8 biturbo now has 630 hp and has been trimmed for maximum sportiness and cornering stability.
He recently impressively demonstrated how much (lateral) dynamism he has on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. Porsche test driver Lars Kern completed the 20.832 kilometer lap in the Turbo S in 7: 29.81 minutes, setting a world record in the luxury class. Not only on the race track, but also on public roads, the car, which is 5.05 meters long and weighs more than two tons, impresses with its lightness and precision.
With the facelift, Porsche is also expanding its electric range. No wonder. In Europe, around 60 percent of all Panamera customers rely on a plug-in hybrid. With a system output of 560 hp, the new 4S E-Hybrid ranks among the ranks at a price of at least 126,841 euros. There is also a 460 hp 4 E-Hybrid and the Turbo S E-Hybrid with 680 hp. The capacity of the new battery increases from 14.1 kWh to 17.9 kWh, the electric range has been increased by 30 percent to 54 kilometers according to the standard.
