Accelerate is the key word of the government this Monday evening. Olivier Véran repeated it in the afternoon, the vaccination will go faster: “It will gain momentum”, he said. Should we believe it? The answer in the coming days. What is certain is that after the criticisms of the last few days, the government changes strategy on a number of points.
First in nursing homes, the vaccines really started to arrive on Monday, January 4. 300 establishments received them and, it is not yet fully validated, but the Ministry of Health is working a simplification of the procedure. Today, a medical pre-interview is needed, sign a consent, it lasts several days. Where it will be possible with people able to decide for themselves, everything will be done at the same time.
Another advance, to vaccinate caregivers over 50 more quickly. There are already at least a hundred hospitals, one per department. 27 have already been supplied with vaccine, the others will receive them on Tuesday, which will do 500,000 doses delivered by Wednesday.
Gradually, the government wants to open other centers so that there are at least 3 per departments. The pace has therefore accelerated on Monday, since the minister spoke of several thousand people vaccinated since this morning.
